Born in Fort Worth, Texas, and currently based in Los Angeles, California, Joshua Alexander is a Multidiciplinary Contemporary Artist deeply inspired by the systems that govern modern life. From systemic racism and poverty to the intricate layers of masculinity and desire, Alexanders work interrogates and pokes fun at the realities that shape our world.
With a particular focus on Black identity in America, Alexander uses his oil paintings to explore the juxtaposition of material success, personal struggle, and the ways in which race and culture are commodified. Drawing from personal experiences, as well as the cultural landscape, his work speaks to a generation grappling with questions of identity, legacy, and representation.
Through a mix of abstract and figurative techniques, the artwork creates a dialogue between history and the present, inviting viewers to reflect on their own place within these broader social constructs.
